How do I apply for a role at Watergate Bay?
All you need to do is email us with your CV and a covering letter with why you’d like to join the team.
Do you offer internships/work experience?
We run several apprenticeship programmes including a chef development programme and gap year programme. We also offer work experience placements for anyone wanting to get a taster of working in hospitality.
What are the part-time and full-time hours?
We offer flexible working hours, full time hours are based on a 40hr week.
How long will I hear back after an interview?
We aim to get back to you within 48hrs.
Can I submit a paper CV/resume?
Yes, we accept both paper and digital CVs.
What preparation shall I do before an interview?
We always encourage potential new team to thoroughly read the job description to get a good understanding of the role. Our website will give you an overview of our guest experience and what we are passionate about.
A friend/family member already works at Watergate Bay, can I still apply?

What areas of the hotel can I work in?
We have lots of different roles within the hotel including restaurant and bar roles, housekeeping, hosts, Kids’ Zone, kitchen, operations, and administrative roles.
Can I work at Watergate Bay but still live at home?
Yes. We do also have limited team accommodation.
Is there accessible transport to and from the hotel?
We are a short distance from Newquay so some of our team do cycle or walk to work. For those a little further afield, we have lots of free parking spaces. We also provide transport for team living in the Newquay area.
How long are breaks during shifts?
It will depend on how many hours you are due to work on a shift:
If you work between:
4.5 hours – 6.00 hours you will get 15 minutes,
6.25 hours and 10.25 you will get 30 minutes
over 10.50 you will get 40 minutes
Is there free onsite parking?
Yes

How much annual leave will I get?
Holiday is calculated on a pro-rata basis. For a full time role, you would get 28 days including bank holidays. We also have long service holidays after you have worked with us for two years

Will I be able to maintain a healthy life/work balance?

What health and safety procedures does Watergate Bay follow?
We take health and safety very seriously. We have a designated health & safety team who report to both our senior team and board.
I don’t have a large amount of bar experience but am interested in working behind your bar, can I apply?
We offer lots of training, both on the job and specific training like barista and cocktail making. For us the most important thing is having a love of hospitality.
Is there a chance to earn tips?
All roles are part of our business wide tip/service charge scheme.
What can I expect from working in the kitchen at Watergate Bay?
Our kitchens are a busy, but supportive environment to be in. All of our chefs work 4 days on and have 3 days off to allow for a better work/life balance. Our chef development programme means that the kitchen team are experienced in mentoring and supporting career development. You will be working with a team who have a passion for food!
What kind of career opportunities will I be exposed to from working as a kitchen porter?
We have lots of individuals who started with us in roles like a kitchen porter who have worked across various areas in the hotel and now run their own teams. If you are passionate about hospitality, then we can’t wait to support you develop within our business.
